Ernest Bennett founded Ernest Bennett (Sheffield) Ltd in 1956 to service and maintain all types of industrial saw blades and cutting tools, primarily wide band saw blades and circular saw blades, for which Sheffield was the world centre with its' strong steel making tradition. The company progressed into manufacturing shortly afterwards. In 1964 the need arose for a facility in the North of England and Ernest opened Ernest Bennett & Co. (Darlington) Ltd with his nephew, Rob Maxey, to service the needs of the North of England, Scotland and Ireland. With over 65 years’ experience in manufacturing and servicing saw blades Ernest Bennett are the largest manufacturer of industrial saws in the UK, with over 100 people employed at the two sites and over 60,000 square feet of production space.
